Hawkins County resident Charles Grubb accomplished a remarkable feat by hiking the whole Appalachian Trail, a whopping 2,200 miles up and down the East Coast.
Starting in 2012 and finishing on his 56th birthday, Grubb’s journey was marked by determination and a love for adventure. Despite being a section hiker, tackling the trail one week at a time, Grubb’s dedication shone through. He met diverse people along the way, forging connections with fellow hikers. Grubb’s accomplishment stands as a testament to the spirit of exploration and resilience, proving that with unwavering determination, any challenge, even one as monumental as the Appalachian Trail, can be conquered.
